Fibs

Loading puzzle…

Honest animals always tell the truth, and liars never do. Tap each one to mark it honest or a liar.

A new Fibs puzzle every day

Everyone gets the same Fibs puzzle each day, and a new one arrives at midnight your time. Monday and Tuesday are easy, Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday are medium, and Friday and Saturday are the hardest of the week.

Solve it on consecutive days to build a streak, then share your time. A shared result shows your time and how many hints you used, never the solution. It has exactly one solution, and you can reach it by logic alone, with no guessing.

How to play Fibs

  1. Each animal says one thing, about the others or about itself.
  2. Honest animals always tell the truth. Liars never do: everything a liar says is false.
  3. "Us" means every animal in the puzzle, the one speaking included.
  4. Tap an animal to mark it honest, tap again to mark it a liar, and a third time to clear it.
  5. Mark them all so that what each one says fits: true from the honest ones, false from the liars.

Your marks are only checked once every animal has one, so a wrong guess doesn't give itself away. Every puzzle has exactly one answer, and you can always reach it by reasoning. With a mouse, point at a name in a statement to find that animal in the list. On a keyboard, use the arrow keys to move between animals, H for honest, L for liar, and Ctrl+Z to undo.

Solving tips

  • Look for animals talking about themselves. "Owl and I are both honest or both liars" can only mean Owl is honest, whoever says it. An honest speaker is like Owl, and a liar's claim is false, so it's unlike Owl, which makes Owl honest again.
  • Once you know one, follow the thread. An honest animal's statement is true, so it tells you about the others. A liar's statement is false, which tells you just as much.
  • Suppose, and see what breaks. If you can't find a way in, imagine an animal is honest and follow what that means. If someone ends up having to be honest and a liar at once, it was the other way round.
  • Stuck? A hint picks out an animal you can work out next, and says how.
