Gatanki

Privacy policy

Last updated October 29, 2026

What Gatanki keeps about you, why, and what you can do about it. In short: we keep what the games need, nothing is sold, and nothing tracks you for advertising.

Who we are

Gatanki is run by Stefan Borisov. For anything about your data, write to stefbborisov@gmail.com.

Playing without an account

Your progress, streaks, settings and favorite games are saved in your browser's storage, on your device.

When you finish a puzzle, your result (the puzzle, your time, the hints you used and when) is sent to our server under an anonymous player made for you, which a cookie remembers. That's how each day's statistics, like “Top 12%”, can count everyone, and how your results can join an account if you make one later.

With an account

When you make an account, we also keep:

  • your email address, to send your sign-in codes;
  • the username and picture you pick;
  • if you sign in with Google, your Google account's ID and email address;
  • your results, streak days, levels, favorite games, friends, groups and challenges;
  • your sign-in sessions, with the IP address and browser each one came from.

What we use it for

To run the games: to save and sync your progress, rank results on the leaderboards, show you your friends and groups, send your sign-in codes, spot times too fast to be real, and put things right when they go wrong. We don't sell your data, and we don't use it to profile you for advertising.

What others can see

Your username, picture, levels, streaks and results show on the leaderboards and on your public profile. Your friends and the members of your groups see you on their boards and weekly tables. Your email address is never shown.

Cookies and storage

A cookie keeps you signed in, or remembers your anonymous player, and your browser's storage keeps your progress and settings. Both are needed for the site to work. We don't use advertising or tracking cookies.

Visits are counted with Umami, which we run ourselves. It records the pages visited and a few events, such as finishing a puzzle, without cookies, and it counts visits rather than following people.

Services we use

  • Brevo sends the emails with your sign-in codes, so it receives your email address.
  • Google signs you in, if you choose to sign in with Google.
  • Umami, our own copy, counts visits.
  • A hosting company runs the server and database the site lives on.

There are no ads yet. If we add them, we'll update this policy first, and ask for your consent where the law requires it.

How long we keep it

Your account and everything in it, until you delete it. Results from players without an account stay part of each day's statistics, under their anonymous player. Sign-in sessions end when you sign out, or after a while without use.

Your rights

You can see, download, correct and delete your data. On your profile, Download my data saves everything we keep about you as a file, Edit changes your username and picture, and Delete account removes your account and everything in it for good.

For anything else, such as an objection or a question, write to stefbborisov@gmail.com. If you live in the EU or the UK, you can also complain to your data protection authority.

Children

Anyone can play without an account. To make one, you need to be at least 13, or older where the law in your country says so.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, so does the date at the top, and anything important will be noted on the site.
