Homing

Name any country. Each guess shows how far it is from the hidden one, and the warmer its color, the closer.
Expert Homing puzzles
Expert puzzles hide the least-known countries in the world, many of them small islands. Guesses show only how warm they are, and the globe has no borders until you name a country.
Practice gives you countries you haven't found yet, as many as you like, and keeps your best time without hints. Once you've found every country at a level, the other levels' countries come next, those closest in difficulty first.
How to play Homing
- A country is hidden somewhere in the world. Name any country to start.
- Each guess appears on the globe in a color that says how close it is: blue far away, then yellow, orange and red as you get warmer.
- Distances run from border to border, so a country right next to the hidden one is 0 km away: it's bordering.
- Keep naming countries until you find it. There's no limit, but the fewer guesses, the better. Stuck? Give up, and the globe shows the answer.
Territories such as Greenland and Hong Kong count as countries here.
What each level shows
- Easy: the distance in kilometres, and an arrow pointing toward the hidden country.
- Medium: the distance, without the arrow.
- Hard: a band of distance, such as 1,000 to 2,000 km.
- Expert: only the color, on a globe without borders.
Tips
- Start big. A first guess in the middle of a continent tells you more than one on its edge.
- Use two distances. Two guesses' distances meet in only a couple of places. A third settles it.
- Drag and zoom the globe. Small countries and islands are easy to miss, and every one counts.
