Tangles
Drag the dots until no two strings cross.
Medium Tangles webs
Medium webs have 15 dots and 24 strings. The trick starts to matter: find the dots that belong on the outside first, and the inside sorts itself out.
Practice gives you webs you haven't untangled yet, as many as you like, and keeps your best time without hints. Every web is made from straight lines, so it can always be untangled.
How to play Tangles
- Dots are joined by strings, and the strings cross each other all over the place.
- Drag the dots anywhere on the board. The strings follow, and any string that crosses another glows red.
- Untangle the web: when no two strings cross, you've solved it.
Any layout without crossings counts, so there's no single answer to find. Every web is made from a few straight lines crossing each other, and once it's untangled, it straightens back into them. On a phone, the dot you drag rides just above your finger, so you can see where it goes. On a keyboard, tab to a dot and move it with the arrow keys, holding Shift to go further. Undo has no limit, and Ctrl+Z takes a move back.
Solving tips
- Start with the busy dots. A dot whose strings cross the most is usually the furthest from where it belongs. Pull it toward the dots it's joined to.
- Build a clean patch, then grow it. Find a few dots that join up into a ring with no crossings, then add their neighbors to it one at a time.
- Use the whole board. Spread the web out before tidying it up: crossings are easier to see, and dots are easier to grab, with room between them.
- Stuck? A hint picks a dot and shows where it fits in the untangled web. Follow a few and the rest falls into place.
